Pastor John A. Reid
A native of Wilmington NC, Elder John A. Reid spent his teen years in the mountains of Hendersonville NC. After graduating from Hendersonville High School, in 1975 he moved to Fayetteville, NC where his father, the late Supt. John C. Reid was installed as Pastor of the Pentecostal Temple Church Of God In Christ (PTCOGIC) by Bishop J. Howard Sherman, Sr.
Elder Reid received an associate degree in Business Administration from Rutledge College, Fayetteville NC, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville NC. Soon after obtaining his degree in Business Administration, he started his own business in the construction field, following the footsteps of his father, a licensed contractor. He has been the owner of Reid's Home Improvement for over 40 years.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Supt. Reid had a vision to enlarge the sanctuary. Using his business skills, Elder Reid drafted the design for the new church building and assisted in the construction of the new edifice.
Through the years, he faithfully served in various local church ministries as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Usher Board Vice President, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee Board Member, Finance Committee Member, and Landscaper. He also served on the Usher Board and Sunday School Department in the Southeastern District. In the NC 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, under Bishop J. Howard Sherman, Sr., he served on the Usher Board.
Shortly before Supt. John C. Reid passed, the name Pentecostal Temple Church Of God In Christ was changed to Pentecostal Temple Ministries Church Of God In Christ. Following the death of Supt. Reid, Supt. Larry Bellamy became the Pastor of PTCOGIC. Elder Reid became a licensed minister in 2016 and an ordained Elder in 2019. He then served as the "Operational Pastor" under Supt. Bellamy who also pastors Rhema Ministries in Fayetteville NC. Bishop Stenneth E. Powell, Sr. installed Elder Reid as Pastor of Pentecostal Temple Ministries, Church Of God In Christ in 2024.
Elder Reid has one adult daughter, Adrianna Reid, of Greenville NC. He continues to lead the members of the church teaching them discipleship. PTCOGIC has a passion for ministering to the community with love and compassion as Christ did.
